Resources: Getting Help from CCC

Guidelines for Organizations Interested in Receiving Assistance from the CCC Organizing Unit

The Center for Community Change Organizing Unit considers a number of factors when deciding which organizations and coalitions will receive assistance.

The following guidelines provide CCC with a framework for making those decisions.

  1. Only organizations that demonstrate a mission of social change and demonstrate that they have or are willing to develop an organizing program will be eligible for CCC's Organizing Unit assistance.
  2. Strong preference will be given to organizations working in low-income communities.
  3. The Center's Organizing Unit is flexible regarding organizing models and seeks to incorporate a range of other values in its selection of groups, including geographical considerations, values of diversity, etc.
  4. Consideration will be given to organizations that have issue priorities that are consistent with a national policy agenda.

The Organizing Unit reviews another set of organizational factors when deciding which organizations will receive field assistance. The following, however, are guidelines and not to be considered hard and fast criteria.

  1. Organization demonstrates clear community accountability within their organizational structure. It involves, is led by, and is accountable to community residents and constituents;
  2. Demonstrates an openness to receiving and acting on CCC assistance;
  3. Demonstrates a willingness to collaborate with other community-based organizations both within their region and on a national level;
  4. Demonstrates general organizational and fiscal integrity;
  5. Demonstrates the capacity or strong potential to carry out programs and/or take on issues that impact their communities;
  6. Demonstrates a commitment to developing a secure and diverse funding base.

If you feel your group meets these guidelines and wish to request assistance, please download our Request for Technical Assistance form, fill it out, and return it to the fax or email on the form itself.

If an organization meets our criteria and we believe we can be helpful, our assistance can become considerable, involving both organizational development and project assistance.

Please keep in mind that, because we provide considerable assistance to some organizations and because our own resources are limited, there are many organizations doing very good work that we simply cannot assist.

Also note, the Center for Community Change is not a foundation. The Center does not provide technical assistance or funding to individuals.
