GREETINGS FROM PRESIDENT
BARBARA E. KERR
Welcome to the CTA Institute for Teaching’s Summer 2005 newsletter. CTA
has been in the public eye a lot this year, fighting the Governor's special
election and his broken promises to our public schools. While CTA’s Campaign

BUILDING RESOURCES FOR THE
SCHOOLS OF GREATEST NEED
This past April, CTA’s Institute for Teaching set a new high in dollars
generated through the Staples Recycle for Education Program , bringing
in nearly $25,000 during the month. By donating $1 to the Schools of
Greatest Need Initiative (SGNI ) for every eligible ink and
toner cartridge recycled at a California Staples store, this program has
earned more than $397,932 for the SGNI and raised awareness of the
IFT’s work throughout the state.
