Not Just Getting out the Vote, We Need to Protect Our Right to Vote

Election Day in Arizona will be a day of questions, not just around the voting results, but also, how many people will be denied their basic voting rights because of mistakes or problematic activities at the polls.

The Campaign for Community Change will be making calls to registered voters on election day to remind people to vote, but we'll also be directing people to a handful of organizations working to ensure that everyone's right to vote will be protected on election day. These groups include the Arizona Advocacy Network, an organization that will be monitoring the impact of the voter identification requirements Arizona voters passed in 2004 as part of Proposition 200 that year, the Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund and the Arizona Center for Disability Law.

Let's all hope for a fair and just election day, and let's hope the turn-out on election day in Pima County can make the difference in the results of the four anti-immigrant propositions.
