WHAT: Mass Canvassing for Human Dignity
WHEN: Saturday, November 4, 2006. Depart time: 8:00 AM; Return time: 1:00 PM
WHERE: Himmel Park, Tucson Blvd. & 1st Street
(TUCSON, ARIZONA) Approximately 100 volunteers committed to building relationships and informing voters, from The Campaign for Community Change's Neighbors Working for Immigrant Dignity, will walk door to door canvassing for NO votes on the anti-immigrant propositions, 100, 102, 103, and 300.
"The walk is designed to increase voter turnout and reach 2000 homes," said Get Out the Vote Coordinator, Heather Jenkins. "Such mean spirited propositions will not only affect the immigrant population but the community at large."
The Campaign has already surpassed its initial GOTV goal and has contacted 25,000 registered voters through door-knocking, phone banking and mailings in only one month. As of Wednesday, November 1, 22,000 calls had already been made and 13,000 mail pieces had been sent.
Neighbors Working for Immigrant Dignity is the only group in Arizona organized to defeat of all four anti-immigrant proposals, 100, 102, 103 and 300.
